FO's!

The multidirectional scarf is done! My mom has claimed it, but she doesn't know she's getting it. I told her I was giving it to someone at work!

She also wanted a hat so I whipped one out today. It's Lion Brand Homespun and just some 2x2 rib and a bunch of decreases. I want to try to make her some wrist warmers out of it too. She also doesn't know that this is hers.

::::warning warning whining ahead ::::::::::

Still sick ::::blech::::: I think it's a cold so nothing serious. Just that general stuffy nose and yucky feeling. Why couldn't I get it Thursday and have a few days to recover? I have to go to work sick :(

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

A little creative fun!

This is a fun little thing I found at Poetic Purl:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often - or never have) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Shhhhhhhh!

There's not much talking going on in Chez Stacey this weekend. I've got something going on with my throat that makes talking painful. However, there is much craftiness!

First up, the progress on my Airy Scarf from LMKG. You can't really see the colors of the yarn that good in the picture, but they are subtly beautiful.

Next up, felted stars. Much thanks again to Bloomin' Knitiot for helping me get a hold of the starter felting kit and the idea for doing stars. I didn't use a cookie cutter, it's all freehand, but the idea is all hers. I think I'm really going to like exploring needle felting.

Finally, the progress on my multidirectional scarf. I'm loving Noro. I can't wait to get my hands on some Silk Garden or Kochoran to possibly do another clapotis. Thanks again SP!!!

Right now I'm tea dying some muslin to make little sheep ornaments. I'm going to embroider little Christmas sayings on them. One is for my SP that I'm spoiling and the rest... maybe for my tree, maybe for gifts. We'll see!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I can't stop thinking it's Sunday... but I still have another day! WOOO HOOO!

Happy Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving! I had some friends over for a "dogs & cats" Thanksgiving. You know, when you don't have family near and you'd just spend the day in your jammies and eat takeout... instead, make your own family. This is my 3rd year celebrating with the same people. They're a great bunch of people. Of course, I did wear my traditional Thanksgiving day jammies anyway...they're orange with leaves and turkeys on them. No dressing up here!

I made a ham with fresh squeezed oj and brown sugar and then for the first hour I put the orange rinds on top of the ham. I also made bread/potato filling with bacon on top, sweet potatoes - thin slices dipped in granulated brown sugar and fried in butter - and green been almondine (a great recipe from my dad with mushrooms and almonds). My friends brought this great cranberry salsa type dish, cheesecake, sweet potato pie and these great pepperocini's stuffed with sharp provolone and prosciutto. I'm so stuffed that I'm not eating for 3 days!

Tomorrow I'm running out to get a full sized tree! YEAH! I love decorating for Christmas and last year I was renting a tiny house and had a tiny tree. We'll see how the cats handle it.

I'm almost done with the second skein of Noro and should have an FO soon. YEAH!

I also ripped Branching Out. I kept messing up and having too many or not enough stitches. So I started "Airy Scarf" from LMNK instead. It's being knit out of Alpaca Cloud in tidepool. I love the colors, I hate knitting with dental floss. It is going fast. This one is for my step-mother and I was already planning another for my mom in the same yarn but in peppermint.

I am thankful for:
the family I've made
relationships being restored
a healthy year
growing closer to my Heavenly Father

AKC

No, not the American Kennel Club... Actual Knitting Content!

This is the felted bowl being modeled on my new comforter set by the stunning and ooooh soooo prego Dooce.

This is the purse that I did kind of booga style... but with seaming. I did the handles/top booga style, the rest is just a big rectangle. With one little boo boo that I didn't seam up quite right.

I will get to the great news... I just don't want to jinx it or you know!

whoopsie!

With all of the internet/switching email stuff going on, I haven't been receiving notification of comments. So sorry for not getting back to Maureen and Anon :) (a.k.a Amanda or Alyx) ! I will give the multidirectional scarf a try.

I have 2 FO's from when I was home sick, a felted purse and the felted bowl that my SP sent the kit for. I've been using the purse already and a woman at work asked me to make one for her. I'll take pictures tomorrow after church.

Still on cloud 9!!

Noro Question

My wonderful SP sent me 2 skeins of Noro. It's not quite enough to do a full sized booga so I was thinking of other things to do with 2 skeins.

Since it gets incredibly cold out here at night I was thinking of a scarf. But which pattern? I want something that shows the beautiful colors and that will only use 2 skeins. Any other ideas?

Yes, it does get cold - hello! - 32 tonight for the low and then WAY up to the mid 70's tomorrow. It's a little confusing for the body. I start out at 5 a.m. all bundled up and stripped down to shorts by 1030....at least on the weekends. I'm learning all about layers during the week. My 2 1/2 years here in CA have made me weak. I used to laugh at that low temp - heck, in PA, 32 was a high temp somedays. I used to shovel snow in a t-shirt.

I also have had something wonderful happen to me, but I'm not ready to share yet!

The whole kit and caboodle! See the little bee hive candle... you should smell it... fabulous!

Isn't this the greatest Noro?!?!

The felted bowl kit:

Close up of the yarn from Georgia (see her above, isn't she just the cutest sheep ever) This is the closest I came to getting the real color. It is amazing!

Secret Pal Stuff

I have the greatest SP6! I would show you all of the wonderful goodies, but I can't find my USB cord for my camera. I hope she at least got my thank you card (I had to handwrite because of the no internet thing).

Anyway, what I got... NORO!!!! Yes, I got me some Noro Kureyon in colorway 131. Isn't that awesome? I haven't done anything with it yet because I want to make sure that my pics came out. I am thinking another booga is calling my name.

She also got me a great beehive shaped candle that has to be made of real beeswax because it smells like fresh honey. I also got this great handmade soap by Firefly Soap. It's called citrus splash and the smell is to die for! My mom tried to run off with it, but I tackled her, wrestled it from her hands and it is now safely ensconced in my bathroom.

It doesn't end there my friends... she got me a felted bowl kit from Knox Farm Fiber. It included the pattern, handmade knitting needles, a tiny yarn basket ornament, the wool is handspun and... they included a picture of the sheep it came from!! (her name is Georgia, in case you were wondering)

I will find my USB cable today because now that I am fondling everything again, I want to start knitting.

I finally have internet

Verizon finally got the dsl turned on... still have to set up other computers. Pssst...don't let someone who has no idea about computers and routers and things like that order the dsl. More on this later.

I'm alive. I have a great secret pal! Just wait til I get pics up.

Going to bang my head against the wall before I finish up the computers.
